I love making Christmas ornaments for my family and friends! One size fits all! Make lots of these little mittens and add a felt appliqué design to make a special personalized gift.

New addition to pattern (Jan. 2016): Felt patterns for numbers and uppercase alphabet. Use letters to make a personalized gift. Children love receiving gifts with the first letter of their name. Use numbers to recognize a child’s age, their team number or make a set of Christmas countdown mittens.

PATTERN INCLUDES:

  • Row by row, easy to follow knitting instructions. Knit flat with two needles.

  • Felt appliqué design patterns for house, heart, star, snowman, full set of uppercase letters (English alphabet) and 2 sizes of numbers.

  • Embroidery stitch detailed instructions.

  • Knitting pattern for right & left handed mittens…make a pair!

SKILL LEVEL: Easy

If you know how to knit and purl, and do some simple embroidery stitches, you can make this keepsake ornament. Detailed photo instructions are provided for M1 stitch (how to increase stitches to make the thumb of the mitten). Also, there are detailed instructions on how to do embroidery stitches.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Size 3 & 5 straight needles
  • 25 yards worsted weight wool or wool blend yarn
  • 2 stitch holders
  • Felt (wool or wool blend) for appliqué designs
  • DMC embroidery floss or DMC #5 weight pearl cotton in desired colors
  • Buttons for heart & star design

YARN OPTIONS: Any worsted weight yarn will work with this pattern. This is a great stash buster project. Or splurge on a nice skein of yarn and make lots of mittens to give as gifts.

GIFT HOLDER: This mitten is just the right size to tuck a little cash, gift card, candy or small gift inside.

QUESTIONS: I am happy to answer any questions about the pattern.
