Anne Blake created this perfectly-detailed Felted Duffel Coat for Marigold McCarthy so she will be warm and cozy at dolly football games this fall! Anne is an experienced hand at felting and you’ll find her tips and techniques invaluable when creating your own little coat of BROWN SHEEP Lamb’s Pride.

MATERIALS: 3 Balls Reynold’s Lopi Lite (109 yards) or 2 skeins Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (190 yards); 1 pair Size 8 straight needles and 1 set Size 8 double-pointed needles; 6 small toggle buttons. Anne notes that both of these yarns felted well and to the same measurements.

GAUGE: Before Felting: 4.2 sts and 5.5 rows = 1”. After Felting 4.7 sts and 6.9 rows = 1”.

TAKE TIME TO WORK AND FELT A GAUGE SWATCH: Cast on 40 sts on Size 8 straight needles and work in St st for 40 rows. Anne’s pre-felted swatch measured 9.5” wide and 7.25” high. … Anne’s swatch AFTER FELTING measured 8.5” wide and 5.75” high.
