Combining the craft of felting with 2 color Brioche gives depth and texture to this bowl. Use it to display a dried bouquet, hold small items or display it on its own. Your friends will ask how you made it.

Size before felting: Approx 14 ½″ (37 cm) diameter at the widest point.

Size after felting: Approx 5 ½″ (14 cm) diameter at the widest point and 3 ½″ (9 cm) height. Size will vary with yarn choice and degree of felting.

Yarn: Paton’s Classic Wool Worsted 100% wool 194 yds (177 m)/100 g: 80 yds (73 m) each of 2 contrasting colors. See Page 2 for notes on yarn choices.

Gauge: 7 stitches and 24 rounds (12 countable rounds) to 4” (10 cm) in Brioche before felting. If you use a different yarn, it is more important that you work with a loose tension than that you achieve this gauge.

Needles: Size US 11 (8 mm) 36” (91.5 cm) Circular, for magic loop, DPNS or Flexiflips or size needed for gauge.

Notions: 5 markers, tape measure, darning needle. Optionally some glass marbles or decorative rocks and a table knife.

Difficulty: Intermediate: 2 color Brioche, working in the round, moving the beginning of the round, I-Cord Bind-Off and felting.
