Because the men in your life need hats, but they insist they don’t want anything fussy. No bright colors. No fancy patterns. No design flourishes.

But those sorts of things are boring to knit. So we have an interesting hat in disguise: it looks like a manly browny-black, but it’s actually a fantastic dark purple.

And it seems to be a simple ribbed watchcap, but the ribbing is irregular and interesting. And it can be worn either way out – decide which side of the ribbing pattern you like the best – or just be assured that if you put it on inside out you won’t look like an idiot.
