A hat, a stitch pattern and a recipe, all in one!

The Fennec hat is knit in the round, from the brim to the crown. It requires knitting with double pointed needles (a circular needle is optional, but preferable, until the very end of the crown decreases) a single type of decrease (K2tog) and a new quick-to-memorize, four-line stitch pattern, which works particularly well in hand painted yarns. In smaller sizes it takes less than 114 yds (104 meters) of DK weight yarn. Complete instructions are provided for a baby-sized hat, 14 inches in circumference and 6 ½ inches deep, but the pattern concludes with a chart which explains how to generate a hat of any size, at two inch intervals.
