FERN - is a bottom up, all in one piece, seamless construction. It has a garter stitch hem as well as the sleeves and neck edge which makes for a reversible, non-curling fabric. The Shetland Fern lace design up the center front (lace design can be put down the entire back as well or partially down the top front or the top back portion to make it convertible) makes it elegant and stylish for dressy or casual wear. It can be made out of any DK weight yarn (check out the list of options and your gauge - I used Radiant Cotton) depending on your climate. Cotton, linen, silk, bamboo and blends are great choices for summer wear. You can also layer it over a long sleeved cotton top for another look. Pair it with caprices, skirts, pants, shorts, or jeans. A lovely staple top to add to your wardrobe. You might want to make a few in basic neutral colors. This is a great first garment pattern, for those who know how to knit and purl and are ready to try your hand at simple lacework and construction.
This pattern was designed and dedicated to my good friends daughter Fern Rose (see photos), who passed away in February 2016 at the young age of 36 from health complications that she was born with, due to Down Syndrome. Please show her your love and support by posting a lovely photo of yourself wearing this practical tee. Thank you in advance. Happy Knitting!
