A Tunisian crochet baby sweater with detailed embroidery, in anticipation of spring.

This cardigan is constructed flat from the bottom-up with separate pieces for each front panel, the back, and the sleeves and is seamed. Embroidery is done on the top half, which is crocheted in Tunisian simple stitch. The bottom is done with Tunisian knit stitch which gives it the appearance of a knitted garment.

This pattern is not necessarily hard to crochet, but it is time consuming due to the fine gauge. That coupled with the embroidery made me give it an “experienced” rating. It comes with several extra charts and some mini photo tutorials for the embroidery pattern. There are no instructions for transferring the embroidery pattern to the sweater and I’m assuming you already know how to do split stitch.

The gauge for this pattern is a little different for the knit & simple stitches:
26 sts x 32 rows = 4” in Tunisian Knit Stitch using size G (4.25mm) hook
26 sts x 28 rows = 4” in Tunisian Simple Stitch using size F(3.75mm) hook
