Fernweh Wrap & Shawl
FERNWEH UPDATED VERSION!
I’ve added the red white blue version shown, using worsted weight Caron All Day Cotton and embellished with a single pack of trim bundle from Michaels and the result is just so cute!
Based on the body you are in, it can be worn wrapped once around the waist, with a gap showing between the edges, or overlap wrapped with the ties exiting a ladder section on the waist band. FIT varies! You can sling it over your shoulders as well!
Please note, this is a one size fits most item, with the waist band being a highly stretchy approx 30-32” and is designed to be worn low waist or up for smaller bodies.
BONUS Added in now is the multiple for repeats to size this up or down courtesy of tester Tracy Fulcher. While it is not line by line, she has shared with me her mod info to make this in a child size 7 and has allowed me to share with you! You’ll need to have an understanding of how multiples work to mod this. OR make as written which is exact counts and line by line with no guess work.
Both worsted and DK yarn will work, and it is top down creation, so you could make this as shorter (or go longer too).
It is rated confident beginner, the stitches are simple: sc, hdc, ch, slst and might be a nice start into a simple garment! You must know how to read a written pattern in standard US crochet terms and keep counts. You will also make tassels (instructions given) and braid them.
You’ll need:
- 580 yards DK or worsted yarn for the main body (SHOWN: (1) Lion Brand Mandala in Gnome)
- 250 yards DK or worsted yarn for the waist band/tassels/chain (Caron Simply Soft Super Duper Yellow shown)
OR
-750 yards total yarn for the main body (Caron All Day Cotton: 170 yards in country blue (1 skein Summer Night), 350 yards cream (2 skeins Cream), 230 yards red (2 skeins Red Lip)
- 315 yards gold yarn for the waist band/tassels/chain
Pattern is tested, has 17 images, uses standard US crochet terms, is not step by step photo tutorial with no video accompaniment, in English language only, 11 pages long, using standard font type Calibri size 11 with plain background.
Fully tested with lots of pictures throughout. How to create tassels/cords/ and the wrap! Have questions? Message me. I am here to help!
