Fiasco
These socks are the first in a series of patterns inspired by one of the greatest sitcoms of all time: How I Met Your Mother. This design is based on Ted Mosby’s character and was knit for my dear Fiasco (a.k.a. fiancé), who often displays his own hopeless-romantic, Ted-like tendencies.
The pattern includes a photo tutorial detailing steps for knitting the cuff sideways and picking up the stitches for the rest of the sock. The body of the sock involves an easy-to-remember combination of textured ribbing, slipped stitches, and cables, as well as a garter stitch heel and toe. The pattern is both written and charted and includes instructions for three sizes that can be worked in three different gauges with fingering, sport, or DK weight yarn to fit a variety of foot sizes.
Sample shown in BMFA Socks That Rock Heavyweight (DK) yarn, knit in size 1 to fit a man’s 10.5” circumference foot.
This pattern has been tested by wonderful test knitters: Angelina13, GayleP, KnattersKnits, NanaMamah, and MaggieD. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful work and input!
