This easy to knit cowl includes elongated stitches, which draw attention to the changing textures/colors of this beautiful, single -ply yarn.

Have fun with this pattern! I’ve outlined my exact steps here… but it’s easy to customize. Knit as many rows of garter stitch, or wraps as you want. Just know that your cowl might vary in length.

About Cast on

Pattern uses a provisional cast on, but you could easily do any cast on you like. You’ll just have to sew your cowl together instead of a 3-needle bind off.

About Needles

In order to give the fabric lots of openness, I used a needle that was 3 sizes bigger than the yarn label recommended. I am also a very loose knitter, so if you tend to be on the tight side, you might want to use an 11.

I normally love using circular needles for flat knitting, but found that the extra wrapped stitches got too tight on the cord, making the next row a bit tricky and slow to work. I highly recommend straight needles for this project, or at least for the extra wrapped sections.
