Fibo(nacci) Sequence is a triangle shawl with Fibonacci stripes. It’s big and cozy in the main version, at 72” in wingspan, but the .PDF contains both explicit instructions for the project shown and an extra tutorial/set of number keys to serve as inspiration for at least four other options, ranging from kerchief-sized to even bigger (is it practical to go bigger? I am not sure it is practical. That last stripe feels pretty long if you’re on a deadline, and it’s a six-foot shawl. But if you’re interested, then Godspeed; there’s a larger two-color version and a couple of three-color variations included).

The sample shown is knit in Malabrigo Yarns Mechita in Pearl and Plomo, though to be honest I ran out of Plomo and most of the final stripe is Unicorno, kind of blended in.

Gauge is 19 sts and 40 rows in blocked garter stitch; gauge is not as important for this project as it would be for a garment, but to insure good results and adequate yarn, please be sure to check your gauge.

Materials:
Fingering-weight yarn, approximately 294yds/269m C1, 660yds/604m C2, or 1 skein C1, 2 skeins C2 in Malabrigo Yarns Mechita
One 40”+ circular knitting needle in US4/3.5mm, or size needed for gauge
7 removable stitch markers
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Techniques: knitting and purling, m1 increases, decrease bind-off.

If you’d like to use the suggested bind-off and need more detailed instructions, Interweave has a pretty nice tutorial for the decrease bind-off: for the sample, I used Version A.
