The Fibonacci sequence is named after Leonardo of Pisa, who was known as Fibonacci (a contraction of filius Bonacci, “son of Bonaccio”).

And what better gift for that geeky person in your life than a hat inspired by and knitted with a mathematical inspiration. I designed this pattern for an Arithmancy Challenge in the Harry Potter Knit and Crochet House Cup competition. The striping follows the Fibonacci sequence both from the bottom up and the top down.
