2014 Pattern Update: The refreshed pattern includes modeled pictures (yes, it only took 3 years to convince my dad to model the scarf he wears every fall and winter) as well as a new Fibonacci inspired color sequence. The tech edited pattern includes written directions and color changing charts.

Note: the yarns have been discontinued. Substitute your favorite DK weight yarn with a gauge of 5.25-5.5 sts/ inch and 8-8.5 rows/ inch on US 6/ 4mm. I originally used two different yarns for the added dimension of different texture to the touch, but using all the same yarn or even three different yarns is fine for this pattern as long as the gauges are close.

The inspiration behind this scarf came from my love of math and the Fibonacci sequence. To make it more interesting, I ran the sequence horizontally as well as vertically. While at my last knitting social, I heard about the linen method and was eager to try it. However, having only heard the directions briefly, my adaption does not slip stitches for the weave look as that would interfere with the Fibonacci sequence. However, my goal was achieved in the use of the adapted linen method, that is, it created a self-fringing garment. The scarf combines Mirasol Samp’a 100% Naturally Dyed Organic Cotton & Marks & Kattens Eco Bomull Skal International certified100% Eco-Cotton.
