Since I began knitting shawls I have always dreamed of a green shawl with a branched middle that ends in a full border of lace.
And here it is!

This shawl is enjoyably simple and require a minimum attention. The lace central panel is easy to remember, and by the time you reach the border you will know it by heart!

Yarn

Small : approx 100 g, 488 m / 490 yd of any fingering-weight yarn
Green sample is knit in: Manos del Uruguay Fino, 70% Wool - Merino, 30% Silk, colorway Velvet Pincushion

Large : approx 200 g, 800 m / 946 yds of any fingering-weight yarn
Cream and brown sample is knit in: Madelinetosh Light, 100% Wool - Merino SW, colorway Calligraphy, and Tôt le Matin Yarns, colorway Caffè
MC : 100 g, 400 m / 437 yds, of fingering-weight yarn
CC : 100 g, 400 m / 437 yds, of fingering-weight yarn, in contrasting colour(s)

Needles
3.75 mm (US size 5), 150 cm / 60” circular needles, or size to obtain correct gauge.
For the bind-off you will also need a 4 mm (US size 6)

Gauge
19 sts and 32 rows over 10cm / 4” in garter stitch, severely wet-blocked.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it will determine yarn usage and final measurements

Skills Needed
Cast on, knitting, basic increases and decreases

Small : Wingspan: 114 cm / 45”, depth: 26 cm / 10.25”

Large : Wingspan 140 cm / 55” , width 60 cm/ 23.5”
