Drivers – start your engines! Maybe you know a baby who was in a hurry to get here who could use these?

Make a quick little pair of booties with a finish line flag design in stranded colourwork around the foot. If you haven’t done stranded colourwork before, here’s the perfect opportunity to try it out on a small & speedy project! The little turnover cuff is knit sideways across the top of the ankle section & uses ribbing and twisted stitches to mimic the tread on a tire. It’s a simple two-row chart (or written directions) – easy to memorize!

You’ll need fingering weight yarn in black, white & another colour and sport weight yarn in black for the cuff (something with some sheen and good stitch definition is perfect!) You can sub in the black fingering weight if you don’t have sport weight.

Gauge isn’t critical, but will affect the finished size of the booties. Depending on your gauge and the actual yarn you choose, finished booties will be about 3 to 3.5 inches long at the sole and will fit newborn to about 6 month size.
