The Firecracker Hat gets its name from the highly contrasted zig-zag lines of celebratory fireworks set off in bright lights against dark skies. The Firecracker hat is worked in the round from the bottom-up beginning with a twisted rib before continuing to the main body and colorwork sections It is written with two crown styles, a beanie with a rounder more fitted crown and a toque with a slouchier crown. The beanie is written with a flat brim and the toque is written with a longer brim meant to be worn folded over for extra warmth and snugness.

The zig-zag effect is done with simple stranded colorwork that is repetitive and easy. If you are new to colorwork this is a good project for you!
