This ends up being a very easy colorwork patter. Through the first 25 rounds, every round is either two stitches in the primary color, then two in the secondary color, or four in the primary followed by four in the secondary. It’s a very good introduction to stranded knitting because the pattern within each round is so regular. The only skills required are casting on, knit stitch, joining for knitting in the round, and k2tog (knit two stitches together).

Note: While I have tried to be as clear and accurate as possible in the pattern, this pattern has not been extensively tested. So if something appears to be wrong or unclear, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d be happy to clarify or correct any problems.

In August of 2009, I spent several weeks at the Fireside Inn in Breckenridge, Colorado. I designed and made this hat while staying there. I enjoyed my time at the Fireside Inn so much that I named the hat in honor of it.
