This is a “first” sweater in that it’s a good one to use for a first try at knitting a cabled sweater. It’s also a good first sweater for a newborn. In addition to the cable shown, another of similar width from the Cable Encyclopedia in the center of the book may be used.

Baby pattern chest 18-24” includes 3 gauges and may be knitted on standard, mid-gauge or bulky machines using #1-4 yarn
Adult version is for bulky machines using #4 yarn
Kids version is for bulky machines using #4 yarn
