First Timer's Shawl
The First Timer’s Shawl, fast to knit, easy to learn and highly portable is a great choice for the developing knitter.
Knitters typically progress from simple scarves to more interesting items as they learn. Those first steps are gratifying, but there is a pesky urge to build upon those basic skills. Needed to calm that urge is an in-between pattern to bridge the gap between too easy and too challenging.
The First Timer’s Shawl fills the gap beautifully!
The First Timer’s shawl is an easy pattern resulting in a fluid, lacy fabric that looks more complicated than it is. The shawl is designed for less experienced knitters - although the more experienced will find this a very portable and quick knit.
The pattern uses only 3 stitches: knit, yarn-over, and knit-2-together. There is no right or wrong side on the finished shawl and the pattern is very easy to customize. As a bonus - a reasonably sized shawl takes only 1 skein of KnitPicks Chroma Fingering. Of course you are free to substitute similar yarn to create your own unique look.
