This is available as a kit from J&S in Shetland.

The pattern uses the same instructions for a 1 ply (cobweb) and a 2 ply (lace weight) version.

The 1 ply can be worked in 1 ply cobweb or 1 ply Supreme and takes 50 g yarn, knitted on 3 mm needles.

The 2 ply can be worked in 2 ply lace weight or 2 ply Spureme and takes 100 g yarn, knitted on 4 mm needles.

The centre is knitted first from the tip up. Stitches are picked up along the long sides and the border is knitted down. The lace is then knitted on sideways, removing the border stitches as you go.
