Fun, warm, quick and easy to make. These novelty fish mitts will brighten even the coldest winter day. No promises but you might even find that the kids want to keep these ones on!

Pattern instructions are written to fit ‘tiddlers’ in the 3-4 (5-6) years age range with both frilled and ribbed cuff option for unisex use.

See second image for ribbed cuff.

YOU WILL NEED up to 200 m (260 yds) DK yarn in chosen fish colour, 2 m (2 yds) DK yarn in black, 10 m (11 yds) DK yarn in chosen eye/tie colour, a 3.50 mm hook and a needle for stitching/neatening ends. Colours may be changed as desired.

You may use light worsted weight yarn in place of DK weight as long as gauge is met.

GAUGE: 9sts and 8 rows to 5 cm (2”) in UK dc/US sc - row gauge least important as length is adjustable when working.

This pattern is written in both UK and US terms.
