This interactive play set is great for kids’ hand-eye coordination and to help them practice their color recognition and matching skills. With strong magnets securely sewn inside the fish and the bobber, it’s a safe and sturdy set.

The fishpond doubles as a carrying basket and each of the fish has its own matching bowl. The rod is reinforced over a PVC tube so it’s nice and sturdy while remaining a bit flexible and more importantly, it won’t break even with the toughest play. Insert the rod into the handles and easily tote the play set away!

This pattern is written in English and uses American crochet terminology. It includes lots of photos along with step-by-step instructions.

Size
Gauge is not important to this pattern. The size of your finished product will vary depending on the size of the yarn and hook you use. Made with the materials listed, the fish are about 2 ½” long, the cups are about 1 ½” high and 2 ½” across, the pond is 9” across and the fishing pole is 12” long.

Pattern Notes
The pattern is written for intermediate crocheters and beyond. The intermediate is familiar with making amigurumi and understands basic amigurumi crochet terminology and stitches as well as how to sew pieces together, finish off, hide ends, etc. If you are not familiar with all the terms used in this pattern, there are a multitude of tutorials on You Tube that can help. Also feel free to contact me with any questions. I’ll be glad to help in any way I can.

Materials
• Worsted weight yarn for most; Baby/Sport Weight yarn for fishing line and bobber.
• Crochet Hooks: 4.5mm for pond, 3.25mm for fish and pole; 3.75 for cups; 2.25mm for fishing line
• Eyes: 6mm safety eyes (or embroider French knots with black worsted yarn)
• Felt - small scraps of matching colors to the fish (or white if you don’t have access to so many colors)
• Fiberfill
• 1 - 12” piece of ¼” PVC tubing or wooden dowel (my preference is the PVC)
• Tool to cut the PVC or dowel (I use pruning shears for the PVC, a small hacksaw for the dowel)
• Magnets: 7 strong magnets (10-12mm) - One for each fish plus one for the bobber
• Other: Tapestry needle, safety pin, scissors, straight pins, skewer for stuffing, sandpaper, sewing needle and thread
