I designed this sock for my handspun yarn. But the fishtail cable will look good with any yarn choice. Solid, semisolid and gradient yarns will show the details of this cable really nicely. But you can use your variegated yarn and let the cable break up your color pattern.
The pattern is written for fingering weight yarn but is easily adapted to any other yarn weight and size.

Size: S (M, L) for a foot circumference of 7 (8, 9) inch or 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm.

Yarn: Any fingering weight yarn will work. The yardage depends on the size, leg and foot length you are knitting.

Needles: 2.25mm (US1) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 8 stitches in 1 inch (2.5cm)
