The Five Gnomes hat is knitted in the round and features an unusual (but easy) crown shaping detail that ensures the points of the five gnomes line up.

The gnomes and background pattern are worked in stranded knitting, while the noses are embroidered afterwards using duplicate stitch.

The hat is knitted in 4ply yarn. If you are using a different yarn to the one suggested, you will need approx 145m of MC and 130m of CC1. Don’t forget to swatch first, to ensure you achieve the correct gauge.

For the gnomes’ noses you will need approx 2.5m in DK yarn - I used DMC Tapestry Wool in shade 7202.

Also needed: 3mm (US2 or 3) circular needle, length 40cm
5 stitch markers
Tapestry needle
