Flamenco! is the first of a series of dance-inspired socks. It is inspired by the Spanish term that refers to both a musical genre, known for its intricate rapid passages, and a dance genre characterized by its audible footwork. Generally , it is acknowledged that flamenco grew out of the unique interplay of native Arabic, Andalusian, Sephardic, and Gypsy cultures that existed in Andalusia prior to and after the Reconquest. Latin American and especially Cuban influences have also been important in shaping several flamenco musical forms.
There are some intricate steps in the pattern stitch for this sock and rather like learning a new dance, once you have the flow of the stitches, you’ll find it easy to “read”.
