“The Unique Sheep’s Gradience colorway series is a delight just to look at, much less knit with! Instead of just finding a stitch pattern that would work nicely with the gradience concept (which starts out with a different shade of semi-solid on each end with transition skeins in the middle), I wanted to figure out something that would really show it off in a way I hadn’t seen before. I chose a basic (but interesting) colorwork pattern and transitioned it in opposite directions. Starting with the two semi-solids together, the gradients then work in opposite directions so the top of the sock is a “photo-negative” of the toe, with the pattern fading out of focus over the arch where the middle skeins of the gradient are worked together. Of course, gradience yarn isn’t required for this pattern - it will also look spectacular in two nicely contrasting solids, or in a solid paired with a contrasting variegated colorway. This colorwork concept is meant to be played with!”
