Warm and cosy with charming picots and flaming cables. Totally reversible brioche stitch hat - almost a beret, but with a little dose of beanie.

The pattern has been tested by English speaking knitters. Instructions were proofread.
Written and charted instructions and photos included.

Gauge:
20 sts & 30 rows = 4x4 inches (10x10cm) in stockinette stitch after gently blocking one layer hat (one layer swatch) with 3 mm (US 2.5) needle. To work with the pattern use this gauge.
I knit loosely, so you may need to use different needle size to obtain the gauge.

Sample yarn:
Cashmira Alize (worsted) 100g (3.5 oz)/300 m(328 yds) in two different colors, approx. 122 g in total, 61 g (2.16 oz) for each color in the largest size L/slouchy or any yarn from sport to worsted.

Needles:
3 mm (US 2.5) circular needle 80 cm/32” for the brim, or appropriate size to get gauge. 3.5mm (US 4) or 4mm (US 6) for the body and CO. DPN’s needles may work for the brim but could possibly be too short for the body of the hat.

Tools: marker, another set of DPN’s or circular needles in 3 mm (US 2.5) or smaller needle size for transfering live stitches from CO edge, cable needle.

Hat sizing:
S: 18.5-20.5 inches (47-52 cm) toddler/teenager with slouch
M: 20.5-22.4 inches (52-57 cm) teenager/adult with a little amount of slouch or with slouch
L: 22.4-24.4 inches (57-62 cm) adult with no amount of slouch or with a little amount of slouch or with slouch

Approximate yardage for hat: 300-400 yards (275-367m)
