A great hat to throw on over messy hair, the floppy version is perfect for keeping the sun out of your eyes, especially if knit with a lightweight yarn for warm weather wear! This pattern was originally released as part of the leethal yay, you voted! pdf giveaway in November 2008, then re-released as the current pdf, with all proceeds going to charity, in February 2009. A quick knit with bulky yarn, there’s a more fitted version and a floppy version modification included in the pattern.

100% of proceeds from sales of this pattern will be donated to Outside In, an organization in Portland, OR “dedicated to serving low-income adults and homeless youth” - see the website for more info.

This is a simple hat, knit around on double pointed needles with bulky yarn, in a tighter gauge for a fitted style, or a looser gauge for a big, floppy style. Either way, it’s a quick and easy project!

Size: adjustable based on exact gauge and yarn sizes (included are fitted and floppy adult sizes, but a child size would be easily made by going down a needle size)

Yarn: 80-100 yards of bulky or a couple strands of worsted held together

Needles: set of double pointed, size US 11 or larger depending on version

Gauge: about 3.25 stitches/inch, 2.5 stitches/inch for floppy mod

Skills needed: knitting in the round on double points, p2tog, k2tog, and ssk decreases

The pdf is 3 pages with photos of each of the 2 versions.
