I designed this pattern for an easy hat and a cowl as a part of my thesis. The handicraft store Kuopion Nappi ja Nauha in Finland was my thesis partner. In this pattern are used easy techniques for beginners. Changing needle sizes and joining different kinds of yarn is forming shape itself. Further shaping is achieved with easy increasing and decreasing techniques.

This pattern is also available in Nappi ja Nauha, Kuopio Finland when you buy yarns there.

There is used two different weight yarns in this pattern but you can use only one kind of yarn.

This written pattern include both the hat and the cowl instructions.

Gauge:

26 sts and 35 rows = 10 cm, k1 tbl, p1 - ribbing (do not stretch while measuring), using thicker yarn and smaller needles.

24 sts and 37 rows= 10cm, garter stitch (do not stretch while measuring), using thinner yarn and larger needles.

Yarns:

Thicker yarn: 100g Schachenmayr original Merino Extrafine 120 (50 g = 120 m (131 yd))

Thinner yarn: 100g Pro Lana Pro Socks 4- fach color Anden (100 g = 425 m (464 yd))

Thinner yarn is easy to replace to any kind of fingering weight yarn.
