Fleur is a bonnet-style hat that features one row stripes, a ruched circular opening with a button at back, and ties embellished with crocheted flowers. It can be worn with the brim folded back (as modeled in 1st picture), or down, which creates a more casual hood-style hat. Hat is worked flat in one piece, and the million and one yarn ends usually associated with one row stripes are completely eliminated with a simple and fun technique.

Pattern includes schematic with measurements of finished hat.

Designed to fit 18” (46cm) dolls with a head circumference of approx. 12 1/4” (31cm), such as American Girl, Australian Girl, Gotz and similar dolls.

The difficulty level of this pattern is: Easy - requires a knowledge of basic knitting skills, decreasing, picking up stitches, creating I-cord with DPNs, and, in addition, basic crochet skills (for I-cord flower embellishments) including chain, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet.

What you will need in order to make this project:

Drops Baby Merino - 100% Merino extra fine wool superwash; Fingering weight (191 yds/175 m per 50g ball).
• 1 ball of color 34 Heather, for MC
• 1 ball of color 01 White, for CC

If substituting yarn, you will need approximately 65 yds (60 m) for MC, and 40 yds (37 m) for CC.

• Circular needle - size US 1 (2.50mm) Note that though this hat is worked flat, a circular needle is required in order to work the one row stripe technique; length of circular is not important.

• Set of DPNs in size US 1 (2.50mm).
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

• Tapestry needle for yarn ends

• 1 button, ⅜” (9mm) in size

• Scrap yarn for holding sts

• US Size D (3.25mm) crochet hook
