The elegant and dramatic Flight of Peacocks combines an overall twining leaf lace design with a Victorian diamond edging. Rapid increasing gives it a winglike swoop and lets it sit securely on the shoulders. Color it subtle or dramatic, and add optional beads on the border for extra sparkle. There is no sewing and no pre-stringing of beads needed. Pattern instructions are provided in both charted and written format.

Beads are optional. If you choose to add them, you will need 40 coordinating #6 glass beads (each shawl: Darice Jewelry Designer 6/0 in color “Carnival AB”, 1 pkg - 20 g / .705 oz) and a small crochet hook with hook that will fit through hole in beads.

The blue shawl shown was knit with 3 skeins of Claudia Hand Paints Fingering in color “Caribbean Blue,” while the cream shawl used almost exactly 1 skein of undyed Cherry Tree Hill Silk Sock Solid.

Errata: The current version of the pattern is RevA. On older versions of the pattern, the written instructions for row 1 of the edging should read: Sl1 WYIB, K3, k2tog, YO, K3, YO, K1.
