"Flora Aura" Machine Knit
Meet Flora Aura, the bralette that’s as dreamy as a desert bloom. Knitted in a traveling 3x3 rib pattern inspired by the curves of a cactus, this eye-catching pattern is not only beautiful to look at, it’s super fun to knit too! Bust darts are incorporated into the flora inspired stitch pattern to accentuate your curves, with a sweetheart neckline finish to flatter your décolletage. Whether you wear this top on its own as a tank top or peeking out under layers for a flirty vibe, it’s sure to enhance your sparkling aura. Sweet, sculpted, and just a little bit sassy, Flora Aura is the bralette your top drawer’s been waiting for!
Machine Requirements:
This design is for a standard gauge (4.5 mm) flat bed knitting machine with a ribber attachment. This is a pattern has a lot of transfers as well as short rows, so I would only recommend it if you are comfortable using your ribber. The pattern is filled with up close photos and descriptions of each step, so if you are up for the challenge I would encourage it! I do have a more simplified design in a similar silhouette that you can make using just a flat bed here, and this design is also available as a hand knitting pattern here!
Construction:
The front and back of the bodice are each knitted separately from the bottom up, using the ribber throughout. The front and back are seamed together, then the straps are optionally added using custom placement. I used my SK840 and SRP60N ribber attachment to make this design, using T4 on both carriages to get the gauge. Make sure to make a swatch with the yarn you are using on your machine to determine which dial number will get you the gauge.
Length Options:
There are 3 length options in the pattern, Short (Medium, Long) for a finished side length measurement of 6 (8, 9.75) in / 15 (20, 25) cm. This top is intended to fit as a crop top, and I would recommend choosing a length based on your underarm to natural waist measurement, or by measuring a crop top you like the length of.
Yardage & Sizing:
365 (390, 415, 440) (465, 490, 515) yards / 335 (355, 380, 400) (425, 450, 470) meters of Fingering Weight Yarn for the Medium Length, -/+ 20% for the Short/Long Length
to fit a 30-33.5 (33.5-37, 37-40.5, 40.5-44.5) (44.5-48, 48-51.5, 51.5-55) in / 76-85 (85-94, 94-103, 103-113) (113-122, 122-131, 131-140) cm Bust
Detailed photos are included of every step, with written instructions as well as charts for your pattern reading preference.
