Why do plants flower? Floral evocation can come from a cold period, from a change in the light-dark cycle and lots of things that I don’t know of. But when it comes to knitting we can do it however we want, small buds, large buds and then flowers everywhere before binding off.

Floral Evocation is a crescent-shaped shawl. It requires 350-550 meters of lace or fingering weight yarn. Use needle size that gives you a nice lacy effect. The shawl can be enlarged by adding additional repeats.

Blue shawl used 1 skein Malabrigo Lace in Blue Surf 100% Merino, 470 yd/430m per 50g on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. Blocked size is 120 x 46 cm (47 x 18 inches). Gauge is 18 stitches per 10 cm stockinette. Worked Small Buds 5 times, worked About to Burst 4 times.
