This pattern is the result of a collaboration through Lift Bridge Yarns in Fairport, NY to celebrate the coming of the total solar eclipse in April, 2024. Our city, Rochester, NY lies in the path of totality for this incredible event.
A beautiful set of gradient yarns takes the knitter through the progression of the sky from light to dark during a total solar eclipse. Each section of the shawl employs a stitch pattern that evokes an aspect of the area that gave rise to Rochester, NY as the “Flour,” and now “Flower,” City. This piece begins with a garter tab and develops patterns of raindrops, seeds, flowers, sheaves of wheat, and bridges over waterways to complete a generous-size triangular shawl framed with a final contrast corona.
Erin, of Farm & Wuzzies, and Ryann, of Side Hustle Fiber Co., have put their amazing talent to work in developing stunning gradient sets of yarns to fit the spirit & the mood of Flower City Eclipse perfectly.
