Except for the stem, all the physical parts of this flower are crocheted separately. The petals, receptacle and sepals are crocheted one piece, in a back and forth direction for petals, while going continuous or spiral to make the receptacle and sepal. The leaves are made individually to be attached later on the stem. A wire is threaded in them, to give them shape and structure.

One ball of Lizbeth (med. azalea) thread makes 2 carnation flowers, for the receptacles and sepals, they require very little yard to make.

To make this project, you would need some tarnish resistant copper wire (26 gauge) for the leaves, and dowel stick (1x8x36) to serve as the stem later.
