Pattern temporarily unavailable - I am revising all patterns I wrote before March 2011.
The shawl is made of 20 flower shaped pieces worked in the round, which are attached to each other as you knit - no sewing is required. The pattern contains detailed instructions with photos explaining how to join the pieces.
Skill level: experienced
Sizes: one size
about 40 cm/ 15.5’’ wide and 120 cm/ 47’’ long on each side, after blocking
One flower shape piece is about 20 cm/ 7.5’’ wide after blocking, but the gauge is not crucial in this project. Before you start the shawl make a sample flower and block it, to make sure you are happy with the result, if necessary adjust needle size.
You will need about 930 metres/ 1020 yards of 100% alpaca 4 ply/ fingering yarn, (about 380-400 metres/ 420-440yards per 100g, e.g. Artesano 100% Alpaca 4Ply)
You will need
4.0 mm dp needles,
4.0 mm short circular needle
stitch markers or waste yarn
For some parts of the shawl you will need to use backward loop cast on method. If you have not used it before, you might find the following video tutorial on youtube useful:
