I sometimes get to substitute kindergarten classes. One day at nap time, a little boy went to his cubby and carefully took out a hand-made blanket. He reverently carried it to his napping place. I asked him if his grandma made the blanket for him. He solemnly nodded, then he curled up in his napping place, wrapped himself in this blanket of love, and slept soundly. I decided to design a nap-time blanket. I thought about what sort of blanket I would like to have if I were a 5-yr-old. I finally settled on a flower. I couldn’t think of anything more dreamy than sleeping under a flower. So, I found a Victorian hexagon motif, and used this as the basis for my flower blanket pattern.
