Floyd is designed to create a striking set of stripes using the long slow colour changes of yarns like Noro Silk Garden. Floyd uses simple stitches to define strong geometric shapes that hold their own with the dramatic colours of self striping yarns.

Worked in worsted or Aran weight yarn, this shawl is fast and fun to knit. Knitted from side to side, this shawl requires a very short cast on and cast off - and the rows stay nice and short throughout.

Floyd is shaped into an elongated, contoured triangle using increases and decreases at the top and the bottom edges. The shaping at the top edge makes Floyd wrap nicely around your shoulders.

The shawl is designed to be about 46 cm (18 in) deep with a wingspan of 171 cm (68 in).

The pattern includes full charted and written instructions.

The inspiration for the shawl is colour itself - the intensity of the yarns called out to me and I had an irresistible urge to create stripes. This design came to me one evening as I fell asleep - the next morning Floyd was on the way.
