Flurries Scarf is worked in the round from long edge to long edge, then steeked open to turn it into a flat piece—a perfect introduction to steeking for knitters who may be timid about trying the technique. This project knits up surprisingly quickly, with just 63 rounds of colorwork and only a couple of ends to weave in. The pattern also contains an even quicker cowl version (no steeking needed!).

The fringe is created by dropping and cutting the steek stitches. This takes care of the loose ends, neatens the steeked edge without any sewing needed, and creates a fun design feature all at the same time. Colorwork patterns are charted.
