This shawl echoes the sails on Davey Jones’s ship “The Flying Dutchman”! The elegant lace design is light, but the thick wool will keep you warm. This design allows some versatility with width and length, and can be folded and worn like a scarf.

A test knitter recommends stitch markers for beginning knitters

There are currently two versions of the pattern, the colorful one with pictures (perfect for working from a computer) and a printer friendly version.

Materials:
• 500 yds DK weight Merino Yarn
(yarn used: 4 Skeins Knit Picks Merino Style)
Since Knit Picks discontinued this yarn, I would recommend any weight merino wool yarn (Adjusting the needle size and pattern repeats accordingly)
• US size 7 (4.5 mm) straight needles
• Blocking wires (optional)
• T-pins
• Blocking Surface

This is knit as a rectangle, and blocked to dimensions above. The pattern includes a chart and written instructions for the lace design.
