A dozen mitered squares are knit individually then joined with a ripple stitch pattern to create this fun accessory that is not quite a scarf, yet not quite a sweater. Or ditch the buttons and wear it as a scarf. Combine your favorite solid and variegated yarns for custom results.
Once you get the set-up rows accomplished, it becomes rhythmic knitting that allows you to ditch the pattern.

Sample shown uses 2 skeins of the main color and 1 of the contrasting color. If you want to use just a single skein of each color, make all of the squares in a single contrasting color, rather than changing color gradually across the scarf as shown. Your scarf will be slightly narrower.
