This cowl is made with a uniquely hand painted skein of yarn exclusively dyed for this design. The yarn invokes the colours of a fruitful and bountiful harvest, and the cowl, name Fómhar, the Irish word for harvest is a manifestation of the colours of autumn.
The Irish Word for autumn is also Fómhar, indicating how closely connected Autumn is with the harvest.

The cowl is worked flat from the bottom up incorporating a knot stitch edging and a diamond weave slip stitch pattern. A crochet side edge gives strength and stability while incorporating three button holes. The cowl is finished with three wooden toggles.

Gauge: 22 stitches by 24 rows = 10 cm (4 inch) square in diamond weave (blocked) / 20 stitches by 30 rows = 10 cm (4 inch) square in St st (blocked) using 5 mm (8 US) needles or size that gives the correct gauge.
