This scarf was inspired by a visit to Fontenay sur mer in Normandy in the north of France, with lace patterns representing the beaches of the region.
Finished scarf size: 13” (33cm) deep at centre and 51” (130.5cm) wide along curved top edge when worked to pattern tension of 22 sts and 40 rows to 4” (10cm) of Old Shale pattern (Chart 2).

The pattern includes both charted and full written instructions. It is NOT necessary to work from charts to complete this design.

You will need: 420yds (384m) fingering weight yarn
3.25mm (US3) knitting needles
2 stitch markers
Darning needle (for weaving in ends)

You need to be able to: work common lace stitches, work from either charted or written directions.
