I designed this scarf to knit on various journeys I have been on this summer, hence the name – For The Journey. The scarf has a nice stocking stitch section to break up the lace knitting so you don’t have to concentrate all the time! The lace edging is based on an eight-row pattern so it’s easy to get the hang of once you have done it a few times.

Gauge isn’t really important for this pattern, I have used 5mm needles but you could use smaller needles for a denser fabric.

I have used Fyberspates vivacious 4ply for this scarf in sea green, I love this colour, it’s amazing!! I have used nearly the whole skein for this scarf, which is about 364m, but you can make the scarf longer or shorter as you like.

This scarf is knitted along the shorter edge, working the lace edging as you go, so you can knit the scarf as long or as short as you like. You could keep it short, join the ends, and make a cowl, or knit it long enough to wrap around yourself few times, it’s up to you!

The link in the pattern to the edging tutorial seems to have expired so try this…
