This shawl was designed to be made with the wonderful Merino Silk Lace by Sweet Georgia. Any Lace weight yarn would be suitable.

The shawl requires one skein, and I used the Cherry colourway for this, of course. The pattern includes written and charted instructions.

The design of the cherries and leaves look great on both sides which is ideal for a shawl. In the morning, you don’t have to think about which way you put it on!

The use of stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch ensures the scarf remains flat and the edges do not roll.

You will need to know, or learn the following techniques:

  • Yo - (Yarn over)
  • S1pw - Slip one purlwise
  • Sl2tog-k1-p2sso - Slip two, knit 1, pass two slipped stitches over
  • SSSK - Slip, slip, slip, knit
  • SSK - Slip, slip, knit
  • K3tog - Knit 3 sts together
  • K2tog - Knit 2 sts together
  • Stitches specific for making a cherry, detailed in the glossary section
