The Forest Spikes Cowl blends two colours using the granny spike stitch to create a textured fabric that reminds me of quiet winter forests.

This neck warmer is designed to keep you warm on cold winter walks and stylish through the snowy days

This cowl is worked from the bottom up with ribbed edging and contrasting stripes of granny spike stitch. It would also look great worked in a solid or variegated colour alone without colour changes in the body.

Basic Information
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Yarn: DK weight (weight 3). Approximately 263 yards (240 metres) for the solid colour and 124 yards (113m) for the contrasting colour. I used Ancient Arts Nettle Soft DK for my sample
Hook: 4.0 mm, or size needed to meet gauge.
Finished size: 10 in (25 cm) tall and 23 in (58.5cm) circumference
Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows = 4″ x 4″ / 10 cm x 10 cm measured over granny spike pattern

Note:
Gauge is not critical for this project. However, if your gauge does not match the one listed above then your project may turn out a little larger/smaller depending on how loosely/tightly you crochet, and you may use a different amount of yarn than what is listed above.
