Inspiration: Knit from the toe up, the art of the blacksmith was my inspiration. A cool, early Autumn morning walk as the misty countryside starts to awaken. The village blacksmith is already at work. Wisps of grey smoke curl and drift from his forge. The sound of metal ringing against metal, the blacksmith draws and bends hot iron into ornate shapes destined to become a decorative element for a wrought iron gate.

These socks capture the strength of a wrought iron gate and the masculinity found in its twisted and curved decorative shapes. The easy sewn bind off is intentionally used to echo the texture of the 2 twisted stitch panels.

Design Elements:Toe-up, provisional cast-on, gusset, heel flap, sewn cast-off, short-row toe.

Sizes to Fit foot Circumference of 8.5 (9, 10)“ / 21.5 23.5, 25.5) cm.

One skein works for the small and medium size. Two skeins for the large size.
