Formal gardens require care, attention and meticulous maintenance to achieve those controlled lines and shapes. Same is with this shawl - it will make you count and pay attention, but will leave you with a sense of joy and fulfillment!

Formal Garden is an asymmetric triangular shawl that uses puff flowers and post stitches to create a textured grid. It is worked from the tip and grows progressively until desired size is reached or the maximum of the yarn is used.

Gauge is not important and the shawl can be made in any weight yarn. I would recommend fine weight yarns for more delicate squares, but heavy weight yarns will create fabrics with stand-out texture too.

The ratio of increases and decreases at the edges creates almost symmetrical curving shape that is very comfortable to wear.

The pattern is fully written and charted and a photo tutorial of how to make the flowers is included.

This pattern is included in the Happiness Make-a-long 2021 collection - Reimagination and presents the wonderful Grazioso silk/linen lace yarn by Sweet Paprika Designs.
