A simple square that was inspired by formal knot gardens at stately homes. This square measures 2 inches in sock/fingering weight, 3 inches in DK and 4 inches in aran weight yarn. The squares can be used to make cushion covers, blankets, scarves, cardigans…let your imagination run wild!

For the sample cushion, I used Coast fingering weight cotton/lambswool blend yarn (3 x 50g balls – one Dove, one Aconite and one Lead, although in total I only used about half a ball each – this should be enough to make 2 cushion covers or a large baby blanket).
Crochet hook size 3mm
Cushion infill – I used a 35cm x 35cm cushion from Ikea “Krakris”.

If using a different weight yarn, use the hook size suggested on the ball band and if using a different cushion infill, make sure you have enough squares to cover the cushion.
