Built in 1811, Fort Astoria (also called Fort George) was the first American-owned settlement on the Pacific coast. This National Historic Landmark, located in downtown Astoria, Oregon, consists of a reconstructed Block House and inspired the knit panel and mock cable motifs of this predominately garter stitch scarf.
